On the one-month countdown to Christmas, Corey Doden, Action Coach, will present to the club on Time Management.

One of the things that sets Rotary apart is our international work. Red Wing Rotarians Lisa Marty and Mandy Lohmann will speak firsthand of this international reach of Rotary. Both Lisa and Mandy were members of an outbound GSE team. They will share their experiences with the club.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle…..Rotary goes green today with Paul Drotos from the City of Red Wing as he presents on a new project from the City of Red Wing.

Our very own PDG Lee Finholm will explain the basics of the Rotary Foundation. Lee will kick it off by bringing us up to date on all the things the Rotary Foundation is working on. Prepare to be amazed at the wide-reaching work being done thanks to our support of the Foundation!

Rotary Clean Up Day (families welcome)
9a.m. Memorial Park Disc Golf Course - bring your shovels and help spread some dirt to rework several of the tee boxes on the popular course. Contact Tom Feehan if able to come (388-0272). 10a.m.-Noon Pottery Pond - we are overdue for our semi-annual clean-up so come ready to get a bit dirty to make the park clean. Contact Dave Anderson at the YMCA if able to attend.

Rotary District 5960 Governor 2008-2009 Roy A. Sjoberg will be speaking. Roy is a Past President of Hudson Daybreak Rotary Club (2001-02) and he has an extensive background in volunteer work.

Albert Lea Rotarian and retired County Administrator Gabe Gabrielson will share his knowledge of local government. Mr. Gabrielson has recently published a book called Pearls of Wisdom, the Unofficial Guide for Public Officials.

Joint Meeting with Kiwanis. This meeting will feature the candidates for Minnesota House District 28A. It’s the chance for Rotarians and Kiwanians to meet Sandy Wollschlager and Tim Kelly. Both will be on hand to answer questions.

Kevin Foley from Vote Yes Minnesota will address our club on The Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment. From the material provided this is an issue of particular importance with our state's significant water resources. Clean water is essential to the health of our state’s economy and citizens. The issues demand immediate attention if we are to reduce threats to commercial/industrial and residential developments as well as our sensitive ecosystem.

Today's guest speaker is our own Mike Wilson of Wilson Oil. Mike will be speaking on the Oil Industry. With gas prices on the rise, his message is timely and a chance to learn about the current state of the industry.

Red Wing Rotary Band Classic

Our program today includes Rick Holloway from the Hudson Rotary Club and Sue Oberg of SOS (Skits Outreach Services, Educational Theater performed by Youth for Youth) and performers. SOS Players (Skits Outreach Services, Inc.) is a non-profit teen acting troupe that has been traveling throughout the Midwest for over 15 years, helping teen audiences feel hopeful about the future, empowered to affect its outcome, and informed about available help resources. SOS performs in churches, schools, at conferences and conventions, and any other place where teens gather. By presenting serious topics through drama in relaxed and informative settings, SOS teaches teens how to make wise life-long choices.

Kids' Fish 'n' Fun fishing contest at Pottery Pond from 10 a.m. to noon, sponsored jointly by KWNG radio and our Rotary Club

Our guest speakers today will be Pam Horlitz and Laurie Jonas talking about the Pay it Forward program. Pay It Forward was established by a breast cancer survivor to help women cancer patients struggling financially while receiving treatment. Two local families that have lost mothers to breast cancer have adopted this program to benefit patients in the Red Wing area.

Today's meeting provides an opportunity for fellowship and additional planning for the Rotary Band Classic on June 21 and the Fish 'n' Fun scheduled for June 14th.

Our program today is new member profile by Robert Nilsson with an extended program on Sweden. Robert will share his experience grown up in southeastern Sweden and will and talk about "Sweden today", including politics, King Carl XVI Gustaf, industry, traditions, culture, and tourism.

STRIVE (Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education) is a youth mentoring program that was developed right here in our own district in the 1990s and has since migrated to Rotary clubs throughout the world.

It is a program for high school seniors who have faced some academic challenges but want to make the most of their last year of high school. Students who choose to participate in STRIVE are matched with an adult mentor from the local Rotary Club. Mentors are not tutors, but are there to offer support, encouragement and assistance.

STRIVE District Coordinator Bill Brueck will be our speaker today. This is a program Red Wing Rotary can develop for our youth in the community.

Our guest speaker today is Winds of Peace CEO Steve Sheppard. Winds of Peace is a foundation that addressed global problems of poverty, injustice and lack of opportunity, particularly as they exist in Nicaragua.

Today our special guests are the Group Study Exchange from Peru. The team leader is Rotarian Teofilo Alberto Velasquez Cordova. He is a businessman who deals wood. The other team members are Dehane Roxana Medina Mejia who teaches English, Miss Jessica Natali Diaz Torre who is a surgeon, Ms. Narda Zuriza Mendoza Vergaray who is a veterinarian, and Oscar Eloy Montenegro Olivera, an architect.

Joint meeting with Lake City Rotary at Villa Maria

Our guest speaker will be our Assistant District Governor Amy Kochendorfer. Amy is a past president of the Hastings club and a Paul Harris Fellow. The Villa Maria is an interfaith retreat and conference center sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters for the purpose of assisting people in their spiritual and personal growth. Directions to the Villa Maria: Hwy 61 south of Frontenac Station, turn left at County Rd 2; the Villa is approximately ½ mile on the left. Note: do not turn on County Rd 2 in Frontenac Station.

Today we have two guest speakers. First we will hear from Elana Hendricks with Kairos in Nicaragua, speaking on the District's new Fast For Hope initiative in Nicaragua.

Our guest speaker today is Mark Hennessy, Executive Director of the Red Wing Family YMCA. Mark will discuss the obesity epidemic and the importance of getting our community healthier.

Fast For Hope is a 'non-meal' meal tradition where we have a simple meal of soup and bread to bring attention to the needs of our community. There is a sufficient food supply to feed the Earth's population. But the problem is the distribution of food. Every year 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. Our guest speaker, Lynne Rigg, will give you a 'taste' of the hunger situation in our world, our country, and yes, even in Red Wing.

Our speaker today is Rotary Assistant Governor, John Knutson. John is a member of the Hudson Day Break Club and a supporter of the Shelter Box USA project. The purpose of the Shelter Box is to provide victims of disaster with temporary shelter. Shelter Box is a grassroots Rotary club project which has rapidly grown to an international level.

The key to a healthy relationship is the theme for our Annual Sweetheart Luncheon program. This is one of our four social programs. Guests are invited.

“Bridges to Nowhere” - our guest speaker is Alaska frontiersman Gordy Wrobel. Mr. Wrobel will share photos and stories of his adventures as an Alaskan guide. He will also discuss public policy and the complex issues that this region deals with. This is a joint meeting with Kiwanis.
