Why Am I Proud to be a Rotarian?

Home

On Nov. 18, club member Lisa Marty reviewed her trip to the Philippines. She was a member of the District outbound GSE team in 1997.

On Nov. 11, "Rubin" the Blue Bin nearly recycled Lisa. It was all part of a presentation by Paul Drotos of the City of Red Wing, who talked about recycling efforts here.

Red Wing (and Minnesota) recycles at a much higher rate than much of the nation. However, he explained that there is much room for improvement everywhere.

Established in 1986, the Red Wing Rotary Club gathers each Tuesday at Noon for lunch, fellowship, and service.

We hold energetic one-hour meetings in the historic St. James Hotel in downtown Red Wing, Minnesota. Rotarian visitors are welcome!

Located less than an hour from both the Twin Cities and Rochester, on the Wisconsin border, Red Wing's 16,000 residents enjoy a high quality of life and generations of community pride.

Defined by the upper Mississippi River valley and surrounded by limestone bluffs and hardwood forests, Red Wing is a popular tourist destination.

Red Wing's natural beauty is complemented by its native American legacy, historic buildings, gracious parks, and generous business community.

Meeting day and time: Tuesday, 12-1 p.m.
Location: Mississippi Room, St. James Hotel
(Call the hotel at 651-388-2846 to verify)

Clare Pavelka
Red Wing Rotary Club President
2008-2009

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Red Wing Rotary website! Whether you are a member who frequents this site for the latest Rotary news or a first time visitor curious about what Rotary is, you will find all things Rotary on this site.

I am truly honored and excited to be appointed to preside over the Rotary Club of Red Wing for the 2008-09 year. Since I first joined I have been inspired by Rotary's motto, Service Above Self.

I have been a Rotarian for ten years. I was Program Chairperson for the last eight years. I attended my first Rotary International Convention in 2005, our Centennial year. I also attended the Convention in Salt Lake City in 2007. I love to travel and Rotary gives me an opportunity to do so.

One of my favorite Rotary experiences was hosting a Group Study Exchange member from Australia. GSE is a Rotary program were young professionals travel to other countries learning more about their vocations while improving cultural relations.

My husband Kevin and I have two daughters, eight-year old Morgan and Monica, who was born May 18. I work for the Red Wing Shoe Company in their Retail Marketing Division.

Again, thank you for visiting our web site. I invite you to learn more about Rotary and consider supporting Rotary in your area and becoming a member!

Red Wing Rotary President 2008-2009
